Triggerman.

I don't like all Walter Hill's films, which I saw, but he always perfect in directing. In every shot or little episode I see full efficiency. How located cameras and what and where music plays if it needs. Not only as director talented Hill, but also as a scriptwriter. What the most I like in him, he isn't tied to one style. He's experimenting and can simple scene turn to fantastic. Sometimes he overloads in storytelling. Triggerman is one of unknown work of this prolific man, which turned to a graphic novel by a chance.

Main hero of Triggerman isn't a character which a normal person can sympathize, but I had a strong wish to know his story. I adore to characters having a different from me view on any kind of staff. I like to argue with them. Especially when they brilliant written. This protagonist wasn't an only interesting man in this graphic novel, but also other people which he was meeting. Hill's story emerges in America's 30s, where how said the author, only in this time it could happen. Looking on pictures and reading dialogs from a first sight I’ve caught – this is Walter Hill. Not only name on cover. By pictures, you feel the directing of this man. It takes a main place in the story. In a few moments, it prefers a little bit out from realism, but this affordable for art and just look great. The story doesn't went to a backstage place and excite too. You can expect a film stamp, but always will disappoint for a good and will impress how Hill turned in this moment. Maybe not in every director’s film I see Western as said Walter Hill in one interview, but Triggerman filled of these motifs. You know, I have a like to this conception where in Prohibition era comes Old West. Hill smooth balances and not overloading as I can write for everything here. Triggerman looks alien in modern pattern world. It doesn't surprise when read in the end of the last volume a spectacular interview with the author which was telling about origin.

Great drawings, excellent transfer of ambience of Prohibition, beautiful word. Walter Hill's film transported in the graphic novel.

Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy

Almost suddenly happened release of a new part of Death Race remake series. When previous two films were prequels of first one, Beyond Anarchy is continuation of the movie, which met 10th anniversary in this year. From intro titles and first scenes the audience get the understand the things in the United States walked in more worst way than were in Death Races 1,2,3. In this far from Switzerland economic situation promotes the high crime rate and the government solutes to isolate a one factory city as a prison without inner guards where inmates belong to yourselves. On the island of chaos comes a lot of bloody competitions and the main is still Death Race where the winner is the ruler here. New implementation of Frankenstein who is present champion has a great influence among criminals, which disturbs Weyland Corporation, the prison owner. Soon arrived a helicopter with new convicts and some of them will pretend to overthought the leader.
If the first chapter reminded "The Running Man", the fourth associates with "Escape from New York" with some elements of lawful commodities in post-apocalyptic films and video games. Only conceptions, which looks spectacular here. It would be interesting to know what contribution in screenwriting have unchangeable in series Tony Giglio and Paul W.S. Anderson which in titles with Don Michael Paul, who also directed this film, wrote the story. Fell in love to Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy for astonishing ambience going in the prison where also I like in what lovable cold tones were chosen. For this, I could forgive unattractive screenplay, pretenses in editing, cinematography, directing and many technical mistakes as was in fight of main hero against man with hammer and sickle, where first tool has an ability in teleport and disappearance, because movie was holding in good sense of trash. Type of films where you mustn’t literally perceive. Death Race 4 is a great sample with additions of known elements, which were not bad combined, and where from this was conceived an unique film. I can’t to write a perfect thing on Frankenstein’s characteristics. I mean hiding under the mask amazing Nolan North’s voice.

Unfortunately, not whole film followed in this atmosphere. Where it gone, sharply came all fails. Narrative haven’t any strong in Death Race 4. I can’t understand what danger can bring Frankenstein to the outside world? He isn’t ambitious man and haven’t plans to share his influence out of prison. What chaos can bring his death? Looked funny from government side who sent a special forces to liquidate him. What about drones? Guy as Frankenstein is too solvable from all sides. Troubles comes from nothing. The screenplay has many holes and new in series characters is too stereotypic. I would prefer to see and hear more harsh stories. All car scenes filmed without any lure. I only liked how was made a collecting episode.

Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy could be a more interesting. About this shattered place, their inhabitants, races and dangers on roads. Film has a lot of workable things. Just need men who can realize it.

Spinning Man

Somewhere in beginning of April on video on demand and few cinemas was released a detective story called Spinning Man. It's about college professor (Guy Pierce) who has a standard American life in a quiet town of middle of the US with wife (Minnie Driver) and a couple of kids, but behind this he also has a sexual possession sick. In one day in this small populated city disappeared an young girl. A trace was going to college professor and policeman (Pierce Brosnan) who is heading the investigation has reasons for suspect him, but what was in reality in this case?
A good side of this story - it wasn't made on filled of stamps pattern. Once again I will write, Lionsgate means high quality, because gives a possibility in creating. Spinning Man didn't make usual discomfort, but wasn't interesting too. Screenplay based on same name book, which I didn't even hear and can't compare, but about film I’ll say a director fails to give a suspense to the story which haven't a place for it and for what a plot sacrifices by unrealisting behaviors of characters. This moment was watching in process and after all discloses can see all of this dynamic moves were redundant.
From performed actors I only can criticize Minnie Driver who often didn't try to full act where others just did a great job.

The detective for fill of empty time without any tension and harm for health.
