Death Is a Lonely Business by Ray Bradbury.

Ray Bradbury’s writing style is impressing me in lightness. It smoothly tells stories and his articles are never be heavy in words. Fahrenheit 451 isn’t big in quantity of pages book, but it reads with a speed of express train for one evening. Success makes a great plot at first, where described society is possible, because I saw it. I remember that acquaintance with the writer was in school by a tale, which title I couldn’t find, about arrived alien and his contact with a one man, where also was a glass ball was displaying life of alien. Unfortunately, I didn’t read it since that time, but I feel how strong a story. I’m looking back on destructive school program and see that this Bradbury’s story was a blessedness among plenty tales of Russian literature, which didn’t satisfy then due of uncomfortable writing styles and always about boring gloom life in Russia from first word till last, where every time I was wishing to drunk.
Death Is a Lonely Business is the first of three author’s detective novels, which tied in characters and where action happens in California in time for noir.

A protagonist is a nameless writer from whom goes a narration. He delves a story of pile of needless and sometimes senseless metaphors and his tale often overdramatized. Own personality is a writer of primitive stories, which fit only for cheap magazines as it happens in this book, but there he is more acclaimed in writing. It doesn’t feels that he’s telling, because it doesn’t compare with characteristic of personage. Death Is a Lonely Business gives presence of actual author in narrating. Delight from reading I had in describing of Californian Venice in 1949, where can know a year weather on sun, see how city failed to become similar to Italian Venice and hear a noise of unstoppable oil cranes. The interest to look on today city is definitely originates. Do everything was erased since that time?

Expecting of detective noir from Death Is a Lonely Business will bring a bitter disappointment. A whole book about useless visits of Nameless Writer to people with unusual characteristics, which didn’t surprise me (that’s because I was in New York.). Bradbury surpasses pulp writers in style and doesn’t tease by primitive, but his fail to intrigue is useless dramatization, which sometimes intended for film. Something is familiar. A character who will next for die is prefer to talk riddles. A backstage of mystery is ruining of the pier with installed amusements rides and other entertainment places. In the book becomes clear in understanding who will be killed and who will not, but if it cares. The only unspecific among everybody person is detective Elmo Crumley, who is a main representor of police, follows to common of justice structure’s line, which defines in don’t show activity for crime solution. He doesn’t shy to ask Nameless Writer to do his job and simultaneously criticize him as unprofessional in investigation. Crumley listens protagonist’s silly speculations, which, of course, will true. Murders could solve in fast terms, but police appears on another corpse and after final confrontation. Their procedures aren’t in activity in this book and their existence more take as a myth. Nameless Writer threats to drop a lighted match on lying piles of papers in newspaper room if editor willn’t share in telephone number. The last doesn’t rise a thought in his mind about say to call police at least. It was in the end of the book, where the story became infirm.

And it was no one time when I was founding far from logic things. Ray Bradbury made a lot of wrong decisions in Death Is a Lonely Business. Presumably, I would drop reading if it would be somebody of pulp writers. To other trilogy’s books, I absolutely have no a wish to read them.
